AHEC Governance Structure
AHEC operates through a structured governance hierarchy designed to ensure transparency, accountability and the consistent application of quality standards across all programs and Approved Centers. Each level of this hierarchy carries defined responsibilities.

Board of Directors
Provides strategic oversight and governance.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Leads the organization’s operations and is responsible for implementing the Board’s strategy.

Academic Standards Committee
Oversees the integrity and currency of all qualifications.

Quality Assurance Committee
Monitors the quality of all AHEC programs and Approved Centers.

Awarding Committee
Responsible for the award and certification of all AHEC qualifications.

External Quality Assurance Panel
Comprises AHEC’s External Quality Assurers (EQAs), who monitor Approved Center compliance and sample assessment decisions on behalf of AHEC.

Approved Centers
Deliver AHEC qualifications to Learners under the terms of the Center Agreement.

Learners are at the center of all AHEC activity.
Approved Center Governance Requirements
Each Approved Center is required to establish the following governance structures in order to maintain its recognition status. Depending on the size of the organization, these committees may operate independently or through a combined governance structure, provided their functions are clearly separated.
Academic Standards Committee
Responsible for overseeing the quality and integrity of academic delivery within the Center.
Quality Assurance Committee
Responsible for monitoring the Center’s compliance with AHEC’s quality assurance requirements and the Quality Manual.
Assessment Committee
Responsible for overseeing the conduct, consistency and fairness of all assessments.
Appeals Committee
Responsible for managing formal appeals in accordance with the Appeals Policy.
Clinical Placement Committee
Responsible for overseeing clinical placement standards, clinical supervisor arrangements and learner safety during placement.
